LOTA
What is a LOTA?
LOTA stands for Ladies Of The Assembly.   The Ladies are made up of wives of current or deceased members of the 4th Degree.  The purpose of the organization is to assist and support the Sir Knights in their work with patriotic programs and focus on the Veterans. 
Achievements of a LOTA can only be accomplished when an entire LOTA unites in a common effort and works together towards accomplishing specific goals.  Uniting a LOTA is a task of the Officers of the organization.  Officers normally include:

President:  This is the highest honor of the LOTA.  The President's obligation is to reside at all meetings and to interpret the aims and ideas of the LOTA.  This person will be the LOTA's representative in many community affairs.  This person will be the voice in business and professional activities.  In turn the ladies of the organization will giv eyou their strength and support at all times. 

Second Lady - This person must always be ready to assume the duties of the First Lady should it be required.  It is the Second Lady's primary responsibility to harmonize the effort with those of the First Lady at all time and to give their wisdom and experience and to strive to work faithfully with the First Lady to carry out the LOTA's most important goal.  This person will also be tasked to work closely with the committees.  This person will help to plan new exciting and enjoyable programs and meetings for the coming year. 

Recording Scribe - As Recording Scribe, the LOTA will rely on this person to record accurately the business, activities and achievements during the year.  This person will give a report to the generla membership at each meeting.  The Minutes will serve as a history for the future.  They will also be used to see how well an activity was attended, conditions preventing attendance and time value of a project.

Corresponding Scribe - Duties consist of taking care of all correspondence and communication with others.  Sending out cards on behalf of the LOTA may be the task you are assigned to and the reading of any correspondence. 

Lady Purser - this is the financial representative of the LOTA.  This person will be entrusted with all of the monetary matters.  Lady Purser is pledged to safeguard all funds through sound business procedures and may dispense funds only at the time and such a manner as the LOTA may instruct.  The LOTA's finances must be replenished thorugh worthy activities and it is the Purser's duty to call attention to the needs for funds, thus inspirinig members to new efforts. 

Sargeants of Arms - Duties are mainly performed on the day or evening of the meetings.  By definition, this office refers to one who is charged with keeping order.  It is the Sargeant's duty to see that all who attend the meetings are there for the purpose set forth in the by-laws. 

Trustees -   Elected to review the financial records of the LOTA and report their recommendations to the officers and members.  Will conduct all correspondence of the LOTA and send out all notices.  They will read the current bills and after bills approved for payment will issue vouches for bills to be paid.
